This study will be focused around the higher (Esoteric) meaning of the parables as related to Esotericism. This is the study of the inner world, and the possible self-evolution of man...as taught by Jesus through parable and myth.
If you're new to this level of spiritual teaching, welcome.
There are 3 levels of spirituality:
EXOTERIC - the outer most subjective teachings, everything we've learned thus far
MESOTERIC - the objective teachings of the inner world
ESOTERIC - wordless, symbolic wisdoms of Absolute (God) - received by the Master, through objective teachings
These wisdom teachings can only be transmitted intentionally, from a scholarly foundation.
The Esoteric reaches us in an understandable way through the Mesoteric (remember, the Esoteric is wordless, but can be transmitted in word form through the Mesoteric level by one who understands the symbolic language)...if we have the magnetic center to receive it and the will to practice, embody, and understand it.
"Ears to hear, eyes to see..."
And remember how parabolic teachings are used. There is a literal meaning (easily received and understood) and there is also a higher (inner/psychological) meaning to be grasped...
Take the Commandment:
We have a common (sensual, Exoteric) understanding of what this means. It's obvious in a literal sense - it means don't take what isn't yours, don't steal from your neighbor.
But what about the higher psychological meaning of this Commandment? It runs much deeper.
This is the dive we're taking in CIPHER - journeying through the higher meaning of the scriptures - studying the meaning that lies in the psychological realm, beyond the literal understanding.
THOU SHALT NOT STEAL PSYCHOLOGICALLY means something completely different - and this level of understanding cannot be found in the mainstream study of Biblical scriptures.
Jesus, in Mark 4:9-12, made reference to the hidden nature of these teachings and explained to the disciples that the higher value would be hidden...except for those with ears to hear and eyes to see.
If you're reading this, consider yourself among those ready to receive this teaching.
Ancient wisdom teachings point directly to the inner world (this is where the psychological work of self-evolution takes place). In 2nd level teachings, we are shown the ways in which we are out of alignment, and they guide us through an objective process of unifying the inner world to embody the Master within.
All Esoteric teachings point to this possibility of inner evolution.
THOU SHALT NOT STEAL PSYCHOLOGICALLY refers to the theft of self-evolution that happens when we believe we are already unified, and claim mastery from an unconcious (or waking) state.
The higher wisdoms of Jesus, like all Esoteric teachings, have been safeguarded in parable/myth. By law, they present as false or nonsensical to those who are not prepared to grasp their meaning.
